From Lab Diamonds to AI Search: What Building Physical Products Taught Me About Software

2026-02-14 12 min Target query: Eshan Ravuri

On paper, lab-grown gemstones and AI search software look unrelated. In practice, both are quality systems. Both punish shortcuts. Both reward standards that hold under pressure.

Building in physical products forces discipline early. You cannot ship a story and patch reality later. Material quality, supply chain reliability, and finish standards are visible immediately to the customer.

That training carries directly into software. In AI search systems, quality also has to be designed upstream. Definitions must be tight. Data must be clean. Output must be reliable across changing model environments.

The biggest crossover is respect for process. In both worlds, quality is not an event at launch. It is a repeatable operating behavior. Teams that treat quality as a mood eventually break. Teams that treat it as infrastructure compound.

This is the thread across everything I have built: diamonds, watches, and software. Different materials, same standard. Build with intent, measure honestly, and keep raising the bar.

When people ask how these ventures connect, the answer is simple. Craft is strategy. Precision is leverage. Execution is the brand.
